互联网从诞生到发展至今日，已有近五十多年的历史，而在这些年间，网页设计也从最初的html网页成长到如今的五花八门，而在它刚刚诞生时，由于前端技术相对不够成熟，网页起初的功能也只是作为文本为使用者提供阅读的信息。网页的设计与制作依附于互联网而生，同时在如今这个信息技术多元化发展的时代平面设计也是其中一个重要方向，并且风格不断随着设计的更新换代，也在不断变换着风格。对比过去与现在的网页排版，布局等，可以看出现在的用户界面（UI）设计已经跳出原有网页布局，这一趋势与平面设计，版式设计，以及设计概念有着千丝万缕的关系。
